NICU Mom Gives Back to NICU Families this Holiday Season

Dawn Kirkland’s little miracle Noah was born on March 8, 2016 and spent time in the NICU at Phoebe. This holiday season, Dawn decided to give back to a place that gave so much to her family last year.

“The reason I chose to do this fundraiser is because I’m a NICU parent and understand what it’s like to have a NICU baby. It’s an emotional overload! My son spent the first 3 weeks of his life in Phoebe’s NICU. He was 7 1/2 weeks early. He did wonderfully! Even though he did well doesn’t mean the overwhelming emotions, worries, and stress weren’t there. They very much so were! We also shared these with other NICU families. It was heartbreaking to see those families that couldn’t even hold their baby as we were at our baby’s bed holding him in our arms. I wished I could somehow comfort them but didn’t know how. So I prayed for them and their little one(s). When I heard about the Cuddle Bear Drive earlier this year, the first thing that popped into my mind was those parents and those mamas that I just wanted to hug when I was in there with them and tell them how strong they are and their babies are strong and beautiful too.” Dawn explains.

Dawn did a fundraiser and was able to give Cuddle Bear books to NICU families to bring hope and comfort during the stressful times in the NICU. This precious book gives NICU parents a comforting book to read to their little miracle as they spend time in the NICU. We are so thankful for Dawn’s generous donation and know these families will cherish these books for years to come and tell their children when they are older that this book was a huge blessing during their time in NICU.

Happy Holidays to all!
